Use a portable extinguisher, then decide to evacuate

Practice the NFPA PASS sequence from workplace fire training, including the trained abort if the fire is not immediately controlled.

1. Confirm the fire is small, you are trained, and an exit is behind you.
2. Sound the fire alarm.
3. Call emergency services if the plan requires it.
4. Pull the pin.
5. Aim at the base of the fire.
6. Squeeze the handle.
7. Sweep side to side across the base.
8. Evacuate if the fire remains or grows.
9. Close the door behind you if it is safe.
