Tag a part unserviceable before removal from an aircraft

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Tag a part unserviceable before removal from an aircraft” until the order feels automatic. Drill 14 CFR parts-tagging order from A&P training. A removed unit is not placed in stock until the unserviceable tag is on it and the logbook reference is written.

  1. Record the aircraft, position, and reason for removal.
  2. Attach the unserviceable or rejected tag before the part leaves the aircraft.
  3. Cap open lines.
  4. Protect the part for transport.
  5. Enter the removal in the aircraft record.
  6. Quarantine the part out of serviceable stores.
  7. Do not put a removed unit in the serviceable bin until it is tested.
