Swear a witness and make the record

Practice the courtroom-clerk order from judicial-operations training. Testimony is not taken until the oath is administered and the reporter is on the record.

1. Confirm the reporter or recording is on the record.
2. Identify the witness by name for the record.
3. Administer the oath or affirmation.
4. Ask the witness to state their name as they will be addressed.
5. Hand the proceeding back to the court.
6. Do not allow substantive answers before the oath.
