Start a deice holdover clock

Practice the FAA holdover-time order from ground-operations training. Takeoff is not attempted after the holdover time expires without a new deice.

  1. Confirm precipitation type.
  2. Confirm the fluid type and mixture.
  3. Apply Type I to remove existing contamination.
  4. Apply Type II, III, or IV anti-ice as the procedure requires.
  5. Start the holdover clock at the beginning of the final fluid application.
  6. Inspect the representative surfaces before takeoff.
  7. If holdover expires or the fluid fails, return for another deice.
  8. Do not take off with frozen contamination on critical surfaces.
