Spot a one-rep-max attempt
Practice the sequence you already learned for “Spot a one-rep-max attempt” until the order feels automatic. Drill NSCA spotting order from strength-coach training. The bar is not loaded to the attempt until warm-up jumps, collars, and the spotter’s grip are set.
- Confirm the lifter’s plan, rack height, and failed-rep command.
- Complete the warm-up jumps. Do not jump straight to the max.
- Load the bar evenly.
- Collar the bar.
- Set a mixed or the taught spotter grip.
- Set a stable stance.
- Take the bar only if the lifter fails or calls for it.
- Do not bounce the bar off the chest.
- Do not dump plates without collars.
