Size a guy wire from height and sag angle

Reinforce the field-trigonometry order from lineworker / tower training. The cut length is not ordered until the slope distance and hardware allowance are calculated.

  1. Measure structure height to the attachment.
  2. Measure the horizontal distance to the anchor.
  3. Compute the slope length from the right triangle.
  4. Add the taught hardware and tensioning allowance.
  5. Select the wire size from the load table, not from leftover stock.
  6. Cut and terminate only after a second person checks the length.
  7. Do not guess the cut from a looks-about-45-degrees estimate.
