Size a guy wire from height and sag angle
Reinforce the field-trigonometry order from lineworker / tower training. The cut length is not ordered until the slope distance and hardware allowance are calculated.
- Measure structure height to the attachment.
- Measure the horizontal distance to the anchor.
- Compute the slope length from the right triangle.
- Add the taught hardware and tensioning allowance.
- Select the wire size from the load table, not from leftover stock.
- Cut and terminate only after a second person checks the length.
- Do not guess the cut from a looks-about-45-degrees estimate.
