A multi-piece or split-rim wheel is not inflated outside the restraining device, and seating is checked before the assembly leaves the cage.

1. Deflate the tire completely by removing the valve core before demounting.
2. Inspect rim components for cracks, bends, or mismatch.
3. Discard cracked, bent, or mismatched parts.
4. Lubricate the bead and rim mating surfaces as the manufacturer requires.
5. Place the assembly in the restraining cage before inflation.
6. Inflate with a clip-on chuck and a remote in-line gauge.
7. Stay out of the trajectory during inflation.
8. Inspect seating and lock rings while the assembly is still in the cage.
9. Deflate by removing the valve core before any seating adjustment.
10. Do not hammer a pressurized multi-piece rim.
11. Do not rest on or stand over the cage while the tire is pressurized.
