Run a qualitative respirator fit test

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Run a qualitative respirator fit test” until the order feels automatic. Drill OSHA 1910.134 Appendix A from respiratory-program training. The fit test is not scored until sensitivity is confirmed and the required exercises are completed.

1. Confirm medical clearance for the wearer.
2. Confirm the wearer is clean-shaven where the seal sits.
3. Perform the sensitivity screening with the hood and no respirator.
4. Have the wearer don the assigned make, model, and size.
5. Run the user seal check before the fit-test agent is introduced.
6. Run the required exercise set with the test agent.
7. Fail the test if the wearer detects the agent at any exercise.
8. Record the pass or fail result.
9. Do not send a failed wearer into the hazard on that facepiece.
