Respond to a hydrofluoric-acid exposure

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Respond to a hydrofluoric-acid exposure” until the order feels automatic. Drill the Honeywell / NIOSH HF first-aid order. Get the person under running water immediately, remove clothing while flushing, then apply 2.5% calcium gluconate after the taught irrigation time.

1. Get the person under a shower or eyewash and start flushing immediately.
2. Remove contaminated clothing while flushing.
3. Call emergency services and state that it is HF.
4. After the taught irrigation time, apply 2.5% calcium gluconate gel.
5. Massage the gel in with a gloved hand.
6. Continue gel until medical care takes over.
7. Do not treat HF like a generic acid splash or neutralize it with a base on skin.
