Recover refrigerant under EPA Section 608

Practice the EPA 608 recovery order from HVAC training. The circuit is not opened to atmosphere, the cylinder is not filled past 80 percent, and recovery is not stopped before the required vacuum.

  1. Identify the refrigerant.
  2. Confirm you hold the required Section 608 credential.
  3. Connect certified recovery equipment with the correct hoses.
  4. Recover into a DOT-approved gray-and-yellow cylinder.
  5. Do not fill the cylinder above 80 percent of capacity.
  6. Evacuate to the required vacuum for that appliance type.
  7. Close valves before disconnecting.
  8. Disconnect without venting.
  9. Label the cylinder with the refrigerant type and amount.
  10. Log the recovery.
