Pull an intaglio plate through the press

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Pull an intaglio plate through the press” until the order feels automatic. Drill printmaking-studio order from fine-arts training. The print is not pulled until the plate is inked, wiped, and registered, and the press blankets are set.

1. Ink the plate.
2. Wipe to the taught plate tone.
3. Soak or prep the paper as the process requires.
4. Register the plate on the bed.
5. Set blanket pressure.
6. Run the bed through in one continuous pass.
7. Do not reverse the bed mid-pass.
8. Do not reprint without re-inking.
