Practice the sequence you already learned for “Place a fire-sprinkler system on impairment” until the order feels automatic. Drill NFPA 25 impairment from facility-fire training. Valves are not closed until the fire watch, tags, and notifications are in place.
- Determine which riser or zone will be out and for how long.
- Notify the monitoring station, AHJ, and insurance contact as required.
- Establish the compensatory fire watch before closing valves.
- Tag the control valves and fire department connections.
- Close only the approved valves.
- Drain the affected section as needed.
- Restore water to the system.
- Open the control valves.
- Run a main-drain or the taught restoration test.
- Notify the same parties that protection is restored.
- Remove the impairment tags.
