Placard and inspect a 49 CFR hazmat load

Practice the 49 CFR placarding and pre-trip order from hazmat-endorsement training. The vehicle does not leave until Table 1/2 placards, papers, and securement match the load.

1. Identify the hazard class and packing group.
2. Determine whether Table 1 any-quantity or Table 2 1,001-lb placarding applies.
3. Apply the correct placards on all four sides.
4. Confirm shipping papers are within reach of the driver.
5. Confirm the 24-hour emergency telephone number is on the papers.
6. Inspect packages for leaks.
7. Confirm orientation arrows where required.
8. Securement-check the load.
9. Carry the required emergency-response information before departure.
