Perform a maintenance engine run only after the field is secured

Reinforce AMM ground-run order from aviation-maintenance training. The engine is not started until intake/exhaust zones are clear, the checklist is complete, and fire cover is ready.

  1. Complete the maintenance that requires the run.
  2. Close the panels that must be closed for the run.
  3. Chock the aircraft.
  4. Clear intake and exhaust danger zones.
  5. Stage a fire bottle.
  6. Brief the run with the person in the seat and the outside observer.
  7. Run the AMM checklist; do not skip to "just a leak check."
  8. Shut down and inspect for leaks before releasing the aircraft.
  9. Do not motor or start with people in the propeller or intake arc.
