Notify a reportable disease to public health

Reinforce the CSTE / state reportable-condition order from infection-prevention training. The health department is notified in the required window before a press statement.

1. Confirm the case definition against the laboratory or clinical criteria.
2. Notify the local or state health department by the condition’s required timeline.
3. Provide patient identifiers, onset, and the reporting facility.
4. Implement the isolation or exclusion the department directs.
5. Identify close contacts only as the department requests.
6. Do not release the name to media or social channels.
