Move hazardous waste from a satellite accumulation area
Practice the RCRA 262.15 satellite-accumulation order. The container is dated when the 55-gallon (or acute) limit is exceeded, moved within three calendar days, and dated again at the CAA so the 90/180-day clock starts there.
- Confirm the container is compatible with the waste.
- Keep the container closed except when adding waste.
- Label the container “Hazardous Waste” with the contents or hazards.
- Keep the container at or near the point of generation under the operator’s control.
- When 55 gallons or the acute limit is exceeded, date that container the same day.
- Move the excess to the central accumulation area within three consecutive calendar days.
- Date the container again when it arrives at the CAA.
- Enter it on the accumulation-area inventory.
- Do not exceed the site’s 90- or 180-day clock from the CAA date.
