Manage a two-minute drill with timeouts left

Reinforce clock-management order from coaching clinics. A timeout is not burned before the spike or the sideline, and the spike is not used when a timeout would save a down.

  1. Know timeouts remaining.
  2. Know the line to gain.
  3. Know the play clock.
  4. Use the sideline or a spike according to the taught rule for this down.
  5. Call a timeout only when it saves a down or sets the field goal.
  6. Have the kicking team ready before the last snap if that is the plan.
  7. Do not spike when you still have a timeout and need the down.
  8. Do not let the play clock run out while arguing a prior spot.
