Issue a radiation work permit

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Issue a radiation work permit” until the order feels automatic. Drill the 10 CFR 20 / NRC RG 8.8 ALARA RWP order. Work in the posted area does not start until maps, stay times, dosimetry, briefing, and an approved RWP are complete.

1. Survey or review the current dose-rate and contamination maps.
2. Set stay times and protective clothing on the RWP.
3. Obtain RSO or RP approval on the RWP.
4. Issue dosimetry.
5. Brief the work party on hold points.
6. Enter only on the active RWP.
7. Monitor and leave if a hold point or alarm is reached.
8. Frisk out.
9. Record dose.
10. Close the RWP at the end of the job.
