Establish 2-in-2-out before interior fire attack

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Establish 2-in-2-out before interior fire attack” until the order feels automatic. Drill the OSHA / NFPA 2-in-2-out order from structural-fire training. Interior and standby teams are assigned separately. The attack team does not go interior until the standby team is in place, except for a known rescue.

  1. Complete a size-up and confirm the fire location.
  2. Establish water supply and charged lines.
  3. Assign a two-person interior team.
  4. Assign a two-person standby team outside the IDLH.
  5. Confirm radio accountability before entry.
  6. Enter together and stay in visual or voice contact.
  7. Do not operate alone.
  8. Keep the standby team available for rescue unless a known life-saving exception applies.
