Enable a Class 4 laser for an alignment

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Enable a Class 4 laser for an alignment” until the order feels automatic. Practice ANSI Z136.1 from laser-safety training. The beam is not enabled until the LSO SOP, eyewear OD, interlocks, and beam stops are confirmed.

1. Confirm the LSO SOP and that you are an authorized user.
2. Post the warning.
3. Check interlocks.
4. Check beam stops.
5. Don eyewear with the correct OD for that wavelength.
6. Remove reflective jewelry.
7. Set the beam path below eye level if possible.
8. Enable the laser and align with cards or cameras, not your eye.
9. Disable and cap the beam before anyone else enters without eyewear.
