Convert a survey bearing to a grid azimuth
Practice the sequence you already learned for “Convert a survey bearing to a grid azimuth” until the order feels automatic. Drill the bearing-to-azimuth order from surveying / geomatics training. Coordinates are not computed until the quadrant, convergence, and rotation are applied in order.
- Read the bearing quadrant.
- Read the bearing angle.
- Convert the bearing to a north azimuth in that quadrant.
- Apply the mapping-angle / convergence to reach grid azimuth.
- Compute departure and latitude from that azimuth and the distance.
- Carry the coordinates to the next station.
- Do not mix magnetic, true, and grid in the same leg.
