Compute a weight-and-balance takeoff condition

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Compute a weight-and-balance takeoff condition” until the order feels automatic. Drill the AFM weight-and-balance order from pilot training. Takeoff is not briefed until CG and weights are inside the envelope.

  1. Record empty weight and empty-weight CG from the current aircraft documents.
  2. Add occupants at the taught arm stations.
  3. Add baggage at the taught arm stations.
  4. Add fuel at the taught arm stations.
  5. Compute takeoff weight and CG.
  6. Compute landing weight and CG for the planned fuel burn.
  7. Reject the loading if either condition is outside the envelope.
  8. Brief the accepted numbers before engine start.
