Complete a two-nurse blood transfusion check

Practice the AABB two-person verification order from transfusion training. The unit is not spiked until both nurses match patient, blood type, and unit number at the bedside.

1. Confirm the order and that informed consent is on the chart.
2. Identify the patient with two identifiers at the bedside.
3. Have a second qualified person independently match the unit number, ABO/Rh, and expiration to the patient.
4. Spike and start the unit only after both people agree.
5. Remain for the required first-observation window.
6. Stop the transfusion immediately if a reaction is suspected.
7. Keep the line open with the taught fluid and notify the blood bank.
