Collect a SANE evidence kit

Practice the IAFN forensic-exam order from SANE training. Clothing and swabs are packaged before the patient showers, and the kit is not left unsealed.

1. Obtain consent for the medical-forensic exam and photography.
2. Have the patient undress over paper.
3. Bag each garment separately.
4. Collect swabs in the taught anatomic order.
5. Air-dry the swabs and seal them.
6. Label every envelope with collector, date, and patient identifiers.
7. Seal the kit.
8. Start the chain-of-custody log.
9. Do not allow bathing or changing until the collections that require it are done.
