Close a confined-space permit after the last exit
Reinforce OSHA 1910.146 close-out from entry-supervisor training. The permit is not canceled until the space is empty, the opening is secured, and the attendant is released.
- Account for every authorized entrant outside the space.
- Remove entry equipment from the space.
- Secure the opening.
- Stop ventilation only as the permit allows after exit.
- Remove isolation only as the permit allows after exit.
- Release the attendant from duty.
- Note the close time and any problems on the permit.
- Cancel the permit.
- Do not leave the permit open overnight in case someone goes back in.
