Check ID and refuse an alcohol service

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Check ID and refuse an alcohol service” until the order feels automatic. Drill TIPS / state-alcohol order from responsible-beverage training. Service is not just-this-once after a failed ID or visible intoxication.

1. Ask for a government photo ID before the first drink when required.
2. Check the photo against the guest.
3. Check date of birth and expiration.
4. Check for signs of alteration.
5. Refuse if the ID fails.
6. Refuse if the guest is visibly intoxicated.
7. Offer a non-alcohol alternative and do not bargain.
8. Notify the manager and document the refusal.
9. Do not allow another server to complete the same order.
