Change a central-line dressing using CLABSI technique

Reinforce the CDC CLABSI dressing-change order from infusion training. The site is not redressed until the sterile field is set and skin prep has dried.

1. Perform hand hygiene.
2. Don the required PPE, including a mask; mask the patient if able.
3. Remove the old dressing toward the insertion site and discard it.
4. Perform hand hygiene again.
5. Establish a sterile field and don sterile gloves.
6. Cleanse the site with chlorhexidine using friction and allow it to dry fully.
7. Apply the new sterile dressing.
8. Date the dressing.
9. Document the site condition and the change.
