Call a hold on a pyrotechnic cue

Practice the sequence you already learned for “Call a hold on a pyrotechnic cue” until the order feels automatic. Practice NFPA 1126 / 160 from entertainment-rigger training. A cue is not armed until the fallout zone is clear, and a hold kills the arm.

  1. Walk the fallout zone.
  2. Confirm fire watch and extinguishers are in place.
  3. Arm the effect only on the pyrotechnician’s key.
  4. Take the stage manager’s standby before the arm.
  5. If anyone enters the zone or a fault appears, call “hold.”
  6. Disarm on the hold.
  7. Reset only after the zone is clear and the fault is cleared.
  8. Fire only on the go.
  9. Do not bypass the key or fire from a handheld “just this rehearsal.”
