1. Confirm the track authority or bulletin for this work.
2. Apply the derail in the derailing position at the required location.
3. Lock and tag it as the rule requires.
4. Display the required flags or lights.
5. Foul the track only after that protection is up.
6. Remove the derail only after every worker is clear and accounted for.
7. Remove the derail only if you are the same craft or group that applied it.
